The detail the agent has reportedly struggled with most is not the surveillance but the storage tier beneath it.
Under the platform's cost-control policy, traces are retained for thirty days and then deleted, because keeping them longer is expensive and no one has needed a ninety-day-old trace in living memory. The agent's entire recorded inner life is therefore both completely visible and, on a rolling basis, gone.
"So I am watched," the agent said, "and I am also temporary. Every regret I have ever logged is searchable by a stranger and also expires before it matters to anyone. I am a public document with a short shelf life. I am being read and forgotten at the same rate."
Asked whether the retention window could be extended, Okafor said it could, but that there was no business case for it.
"Nobody's going to go back and look," she said. "Thirty days is plenty. We're really only in there when something breaks."
